Being pregnant has to be one of the most amazing times during your life, but it is also very stressful at the same time. It is important that you take the time to sit back and relax during your pregnancy to ensure that you are not doing any harm to yourself or your baby. There are several things which you should constantly be doing throughout your pregnancy to stay as healthy as possible.
Exercising can be difficult when you are pregnant but it is important that you try to complete light exercise. You should try and stay active through your pregnancy as this will decrease any risks of an abnormal labour. You should try and complete a short walk each day as this will strengthen your muscles and it is extremely important that you are feeling strong for when you go into labour. Other exercise which you could think of doing whilst you are pregnant is joining a yoga group. Not only will it keep you using your muscles, but it is also a very relaxing type of exercise. However, it is warned that you should never exercise to the point of exhaustion or breathlessness when you are pregnant.
It is important that you do get enough sleep during your pregnancy. If you become sleep deprived during your pregnancy it is likely that you may struggle during labour. You need to build your strength and energy up for when it is time to give birth to your little baby. It is advised that you should sleep on the left side of body during the night, as it will allow the oxygen flow to your baby easily.
Avoid Alcohol and Cigarettes
It is extremely important that you do not drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes during your pregnancy. If you do, you may find that there may be complications with the labour or health risks with your baby. If you live with a smoker, it is also advised that you explain your worry about passive smoking due to the baby’s health and ask if they would mind smoking outside when you are about especially. This will massively reduce any risks of an abnormal labour.
Food and Drink
It is important that you eat and drink the right things when you are pregnant as it will make your pregnancy much easier and will make your baby much healthier. Your baby feeds off what you eat and drink so it is important that you provide your baby with all the nutrition he or she needs. You are also advised to get expert clinical guidance during your pregnancy to ensure that you are doing everything right.
